Printmaking Workshops

Daryl is excited to invite you to her private studio for a hands-on woodblock printmaking workshop. Carve, ink and print your very own woodblock print! Now offering two Beginner Classes and one Advanced Class. Students MUST have participated in a past workshop, be signed up for a Beginner Class or have previous printmaking experience to attend the Advanced Class. Open to adults 18 and over.

COVID GUIDELINES
Due to the indoor setting, a close proximity of working space and for the safety of Daryl and her immune compromised husband, Owen Kinney, we require all participants be COVID vaccinated. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Outdoor, socially distanced workshops will be offered for unvaccinated participants at a later date.

Beginner Class:
Friday or Saturday, August 6 or 7, 2021
1pm – 5pm
$220 per person
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED
Max Attendance: 15
Min Attendance: 6
Beginner students will be given a short history of woodblock printmaking, an introduction to the tools and techniques, one 4″x 6″ woodblock, a choice of predetermined designs of varying difficulty or participants are welcome to create their own design (due to time restrictions, we recommend designs be pre-drawn and ready for transfer to block). Students will receive personalized instruction on carving, inking and printing their design. Each will have five sheets of handmade kizuki print paper for individual color/composition experimentation. Take home your carved woodblock, completed prints, and a list of printmaking sources and materials for future printmaking exploration!

Advanced Class:

Advanced students MUST have participated in a previous workshop or have printmaking experience to attend. Each student will be given two 6″x 8″ woodblocks, a choice of predetermined designs of varying difficulty or participants are welcome to create their own design (due to time restrictions, we recommend designs be pre-drawn and ready for transfer to block). Students will receive personalized instruction on carving, inking and printing multi-block prints. Each will have five sheets of handmade kizuki print paper for individual color/composition experimentation. Participants are welcome to bring lunch (fridge and microwave provided) or go to one of the nearby restaurants. Take home your carved woodblocks, completed prints, and a list of printmaking sources and materials for future printmaking exploration! Adult beverages provided after carving is complete.
