Students will be given a short history of woodblock printmaking, an introduction to the tools and techniques, one 4″x 6″ woodblock, a choice of predetermined designs of varying difficulty or participants are welcome to create their own design (due to time restrictions, we recommend designs be pre-drawn and ready for transfer to block). Students will receive personalized instruction on carving, inking and printing their design. Each will have five sheets of handmade kizuki print paper for individual color/composition experimentation. Take home your carved woodblock, completed prints, and a list of printmaking sources and materials for future printmaking exploration!
