In Japan, the dragonfly is the symbol of autumn, courage, strength and happiness.
“Crimson pepper pod… add two pairs of wings… and look… darting dragonfly.” Haiku by Matsuo Bashō, 1644 – 1694
It is also seen on Hopi, Zuni and Navajo ancient pottery as well as amullets from the Late Middle Kingdom of Egypt. And, seen on my fence on Nutty Brown Road early one morning.
The 3rd in my “What lives on Texas fences series”.
